Al Salam Bank has announced the launch of the 19th edition of its Annual Summer Internship Program, reinforcing its long-standing commitment to supporting youth development and advancing national talent in alignment with the Kingdom’s economic vision. This year’s program welcomes 45 university students from leading local and international universities, marking the largest group of interns in the program’s history. The two-month professional training experience is designed to equip them with the knowledge, skills, and exposure needed to succeed in today’s dynamic banking and financial landscape.
The 2025 edition is held under the theme “Sustainable Development through Innovation and AI”, reflecting the Bank’s strategic focus on integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles with forward-looking digital transformation. Participants will benefit from structured learning modules, cross-departmental rotations, and direct mentorship from the Bank’s senior professionals—allowing them to gain in-depth insight into core banking functions and emerging industry trends.
As part of the internship program’s practical framework, interns will engage in a project-based group challenge under the guidance of dedicated mentors. Each group will be tasked with developing innovative, sustainability-driven solutions to real-world business cases, leveraging AI and other emerging technologies. Winning proposals will receive monetary awards and may be considered for implementation within the Bank’s operational framework.
In line with the program’s focus on ESG and innovation, participants will also take part in a dedicated site visit to a local institution. The visit is designed to provide a broader understanding of the best practices in responsible innovation, sustainable operations, and digital advancement.
Commenting on the program’s launch, Muna Al Balooshi, Head of Human Resources and Administration at Al Salam Bank, stated: “At Al Salam Bank, we view youth empowerment as a strategic priority and an essential investment in the Kingdom’s long-term human capital development. The Annual Summer Internship Program is designed to go beyond theoretical learning by providing hands-on experience, real business exposure, and direct mentorship. Through this initiative, we aim to equip young professionals with the practical tools, business acumen, and values required to thrive in a competitive environment shaped by sustainability and innovation”.
The Annual Summer Internship Program remains a key pillar of Al Salam Bank’s ESG efforts and reflects its brand promise of “nurturing relationships by enriching experiences”. The initiative continues to contribute to the development of Bahrain’s knowledge-based economy by fostering a future-ready generation of banking and finance professionals.
