Al Salam Bank, the pioneering Shari’a-compliant Bank in the Kingdom, conducted a team building event as part of its comprehensive programme “Retail Academy 2” which is aimed at further strengthening teamwork among its retail employees. The six-hour session, held at Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa Sea & Spa, was led by trainers from the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF).
The exercise brought together 90 retail banking participants, with the aim of cultivating improved workplace relationships by spearheading employee engagement, cultural change, and embedding leadership responsibilities, in order to develop strong and effective teams. The program took the format of a competition, in which teams competed in physical and intellectual tasks such as problem solving, brainstorming, and communication exercises. It covered different stages of team development while also allowing them to experience the critical factors that support or hinder team success and performance.
Deputy CEO of Al Salam Bank Anwar Murad said: “Team cohesiveness is an essential ingredient for business success that helps us deliver a superior experience to our customers and create value for the Bank as a whole. Such training programs allow our employees to practice important leadership skills while gaining insights into the business processes that lead to success.”
Al Salam Bank’s Head of Human Resources and Administration, Muna Al Balooshi said: “Investing in our team members is vital to our continued success, which is why we offer a wide range of training programs to help them develop their skills and achieve their professional goals. We also proactively invest in our employees’ wellbeing through team building activities that enable them bond and socialize outside of the work environment, and help improve communication, raise morale, and empower them to be decision makers.
We are pleased to partner with BIBF, one of the top providers of banking and finance-related education in the Kingdom, to offer this program, the first of several we have planned for the year.” Director of the BIBF Dr. Ahmed Al Shaikh said: “As part of the BIBF’s core beliefs, we consider organizational functions more efficient when we employ team dynamics, and we are glad to collaborate with Al Salam Bank Bahrain to achieve this goal through this team building initiative.
This exercise provides participants with activities that generate dialogue and enable in-depth communication, in order for work colleagues to learn to feel comfortable around one another and work together more effectively as team members.”
